I am Dr. Lavanya Kannaiyan, a Pediatric Surgeon. I have done
my M.B.B.S from Sri Ramachandra Medical College. I trained in General Surgery
at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. I have done my super specialization in
Pediatric Surgery from Christian Medical College, Vellore. I have been a
practicing Pediatric Surgeon for the last five years. I am working as an Assistant Professor of
Pediatric Surgery at Niloufer Hospital for Women and Children. I have been
awarded DNB (gold medal) in General Surgery in 2005. I am also a member of the
Royal College of Surgeon, Edinburgh (MRCSed).
My special interest is in Pediatric Urology, which
constitutes 70% of surgical problems faced by children. I have spent 1 year at
Miami Children’s Hospital as a clinical observer in Pediatric Urology. My other
interests are Neonatal Surgery and Pediatric Laparoscopy. I am also interested
in chronic illness in children following reconstructive surgery for congenital
problems. Children continue to face long term issues regarding continence after
bowel and bladder surgery. They require guidance and tools to help them live as
normal of a life possible
.
I am interested in scientific research and have several
articles published in national and international journals. I have presented
papers at National and International conferences. I have received the UC
Chakraboty award for best paper at IAPSCON 2012.
